sift n. sort through in order to isolate what is useful or valuable.
The Office of Public Art invites notable visual, literary, and performing arts professionals to virtually sift through artist profiles on the Pittsburgh Artist Registry to develop a collection of artworks. Sift is a virtual exhibition space for artists to gain exposure and it is a new platform for curators and artists to collaborate on creating their own narrative concerning arts and culture in Southwestern PA.
Sift is open to all visual, performing, and literary artists with an active Pittsburgh Artist Registry profile.
Curator will select digital works solely from the Pittsburgh Artist Registry and based only on the information provided by the artist on their profile.
1. Create or update your Pittsburgh Artist Registry profile located at pittsburghartistregistry.org by the registration deadline of each call call for artists. When the call opens for the next Sift they can be found here. Only work samples on the artists registry page will be considered. Be sure your profile is complete, your bio and artist statement are current, and your external links are active.
2. Complete the online registration form. A link to this form will be included in the Sift call page here.
