Preparing Work Samples for the Pittsburgh Artist Registry

Please upload your unique material only; Copyright law must be obeyed at all times.

Step 1:  File names

Do not use any spaces or symbols  in the filename.  If you do, the image cannot be viewed.  Please check all of your images once you have uploaded them to make sure they are able to be viewed.  You may contact us at staff@pittsburghartistregistry.org if you have any uploading issues.

Step 2:  Account information

In the tab titled ‘My Profile Information’ please list your name and demographic information.  All information entered will be searchable by users.  All required fields are denoted with a red asterisk.

Step 3: Upload a profile image

Please supply a .gif,. jpg or .png file. Image will be resized to 130 x 130 pixels  You may resize your profile image before uploading to avoid any skewing.

Step 4: Outside Website and Social information

Please include any external websites or social media sites that you would like to associate with your account.

Step 5: Artist information

Please include information about your artwork including any groups that you are affiliated with, and any disciplines that you work in.

Step 6: Artist Statement

Your artist statement must be copied and pasted into the text box.  It cannot be uploaded.   If you are having trouble with formatting, try copying and pasting from a plain text editor such as Wordpad or Notepad.

Step 7: Bio

Please upload your bio and resume.  Your bio must be copied and pasted in.  If you are having trouble with formatting, try copying and pasting from a plain text editor such as Wordpad or Notepad. 

Step 8: Resume

Your resume is included as an attachment.  Please upload a .docx,. doc, .txt, or .pdf file.  You may upload files up to 1 MB.

Step 9: Save Profile

Make sure to periodically save your work by clicking the ‘save profile’ button at the bottom of the page

Step 10: Upload work samples

Near the top of the page, there is a tab called  ‘My Work Samples.’ You can upload samples of your work here.   You may also submit links to external materials hosted on another website, such as Vimeo or YouTube videos

Images: All images will be resized to 170 pixels x 130 pixels and cropped automatically to fit into a thumbnail view.  You may upload image files up to 1 MB.

Audio Files: You may upload audio samples up to 10 MB in the following formats:  .wav, .mp3, .mov, or .aif.   Please be aware that the person listening to these audio files must have the correct plugin in order to hear them. Please be aware that sound may be reduced to mono without reduction of quality. You may also include links to audio host sites.

Video Files: You may upload video files up to 10 MB in the following formats: .mp4, .ogv, .avi, .flv, .wmv, or .webm. Please be aware that the viewer of these videos must have the correct plugin in order to see them. All videos should be 320 wide by 240 high and be formatted to run at 15 frames per second.  You may also upload links to video host sites.

Writing Samples: Literary or text-based sample files may be uploaded up to 1 MB in size in the following formats:  .docx, .doc, .txt. pdf.   

Be sure to periodically save your work after uploading worksamples.

Step 11: View my profile

Click ‘View my Page’ at the top of your profile to preview your profile.
